National Safe Work Month
October is National Safe Work Month.
This year’s overarching theme for 2023 is 'For everyone’s safety, work safely.'
This month is a reminder of our team’s commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, and our objective of a harm free workplace. It is about encouraging everyone to prioritise health and safety in the workplace as we understand that individuals, their families and the broader community are all impacted by work-related injury and illness.
Our teams will work together over the course of the month to reflect on how we can:
🦺 Manage risks at work
🦺 Protect workers’ mental health
🦺 Support all workers
🦺 Ensure a safe and healthy workplace
Here at Umwelt we strongly believe that all team members, regardless of their specialty or how they are engaged, have the right to a healthy and safe working environment and that a safe and healthy workplace benefits everyone.
Our dedication aligns with our values and beliefs that safety is paramount and our people are our most valuable asset. In fact, our ISO 45001 certification acknowledges our continued commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace. With a workplace culture focused on the prioritisation of health safety and wellbeing, we are determined to achieve our objective of a harm free workplace.
In anticipation of a busy forward workload in the lead up to the end of year, Umwelt recently had the pleasure hosting Declan Edwards, Head of Vision and Impact at the BU Happiness College in a company wide session.
Declan guided the group in a discussion about the “12 Stages of Burnout”, particularly around identifying what those stages are, as well as how to mitigate and manage the signs and symptoms in ourselves, and our workmates.
In a second session, Declan spoke about "Recovering from Burnout” and how we can support colleagues through times of burnout. It focused on developing skills such as self-awareness, boundary setting, compassion, and self-care.
