Moah Creek Wind Farm

CLIENT: Central Queensland Power (CQP)
SECTOR: Renewables – Wind
REGION: Central Queensland

The Moah Creek Wind Farm is a development proposed to consist of up to 60 wind turbine generators (WTGs) and associated ancillary infrastructure generating approximately 372 megawatts (MW) of power to the national grid. With a commitment to minimal environmental impact, the infrastructure occupies only 6% of the total site area, allowing for continued agricultural use. The Moah Creek Wind Farm will benefit the local region by generating enough clean electricity to supply over 250,000 homes, create 300 jobs during construction and provide a $600 million investment.

OUR INVOLVEMENT: Environmental Studies and Approvals.

We have been supporting Central Queensland Power in the development of the Moah Creek Wind Farm Project for a number of years. Key tasks have included undertaking a full suite of ecological field surveys, coordinating expert technical input, working with CQP to optimise the project design, and managing the environmental approvals processes.

OUTCOME:

Umwelt’s unparalleled experience in supporting the design and approvals of renewable energy projects in Queensland has enabled the project to obtain State development approval for the full 60 WTGs, and an EPBC controlled action decision. We are currently supporting Central Queensland Power with the development of a Public Environment Report that will be submitted to the Commonwealth Department of Energy, the Environment and Climate Change.
